HTHS Competiton Squad National Champions!!!

The HTHS Cheerleaders competed at Cheersport Nationals in Atlanta this weekend and took home a National Title! We are so proud of these girls! Go Huskies!

Mr. HT Pageant

As some of you know, last year the cheerleaders put on a Mr. HT pageant as a fundraiser for the program. I wanted to let you know that we will be doing this again this year on Friday, February 19. Please mark this date on your calendar because it is very important that each girl be there that night.

To let you know a little about the pageant, it is a relaxed, goofy event where the guys from our school display their “talents” (and I use that term loosely). Each cheerleader is responsible for getting a guy to participate and she will escort him on the night of the pageant. We ask that each girl find an outfit that is black, white, or gray (we want the girls to look semi-uniform since they will be on stage that night). This is probably the easiest fundraiser that we do, since the girls simply have to show up to one or two practices and then the actual event. We will be telling the girls more information about this in the coming weeks.

This was a very popular event at school last year, so please make plans to bring your family and friends. Tickets will cost $5 at the door and all of the money will benefit the cheerleading program. Hopefully, we will be able to put this money toward new uniforms for each squad next year!

Why start a blog?

Hi everyone! Good news...we have created this website just for the cheerleaders and parents of cheerleaders at Hewitt-Trussville High School! We hope to be able to provide the following services here:

1. We want to communicate more effectively with you! We will post game schedules, announcements, and practice times here. Hopefully, you will feel more "in the know" now!
2. Secondly, we want to post pictures of the girls throughout the season. Therefore, if you take any pictures at cheerleading events, please feel free to email them to me (Lacey Johnson, freshman cheer coach) at lacey.johnson@trussvillecityschools.com. Though the other coaches would love to receive your emails too, I will primarily be managing this site.
3. Lastly, this is the site on which we will post tryout results each season. This March, please refer to this site at the scheduled time to see the list of new 2010-2011 cheerleaders.
